At release the wine is a deep red with a vibrant purple hue.
Nose
The wine has an aroma of rich blackcurrant, subtle spice, tomato leaf and a touch of eucalypt. French oak maturation is also evident with subtle aromas of cedar and dark chocolate.
Palate
This is a wine of great intensity. It has distinctive blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours. Subtle oak characters of cedar cigar box and spice are also evident. The tannins are fine and elegant – a hallmark of the varietal. The palate is well balanced, complex and fulfilling and lingers on the finish.
Cellaring Notes
Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a medium term under ideal conditions.
Eucalyptus and cassis complement black currants and blackberries in this typically herbal Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium-plus in body, that same black fruit and slightly medicinal herbs carry forward in the glass. Tannins are smooth. Pay attention to the temperature sensor/chart on the back label—the Taylopr family winemakers is a leader in reminding wine fans that we tend to drink reds too warm and white wines too cold.
Rich, lively aromas of red and black cherry/berry fruit interweave with piquant spice and wisps of white pepper. It spreads over the palate medium-plus bodied, deftly balanced and generously textured. Palate flavours of ripe black bramble berry and crunchy pie cherry mingle with delightful tangy acidity and fine, soft tannin. Good to go now and the next five or so years; give it a go with grilled rack of lamb or medium-rare steak.
