Pinot Noir 2013
Layered flavours of red cherry, spice and plum are superbly balanced with French oak, giving length to the finish.Download Full Winemaker Note
At release, the wine is a bright red with a vibrant purple hue.
The wine has lifted strawberry and cherry notes with an underlying savoury earthiness and restrained spice and cedar characters.
The wine is medium-bodied with flavours of ripe cherry and fresh, light red berry fruits along with savoury toast and sweet spice characters. The palate is sublimely soft and silky. Subtle oak characters of cinnamon and cedar add to the overall complexity of this fruit-driven wine.
This wine can be enjoyed upon release but will reward careful cellaring up to and possibly beyond 2017.

2013 Wakefield Estate wines provide a quality match for food pairing. The fruit-driven Pinot Noir with flavours of red cherry, spice and plum balanced against French oak provide length to the finish that pairs well with game meats and Peking duck.

The Plonk Test
Wakefield EstateÆs offering wonÆt set you back that much and, in fact, at $18.95, it truly is good value for money. This wine is a smooth blend of cherry, spice and plum, balanced with French oak. ItÆs a pleasant fruitdriven offering which will appeal to many.

Once again, these Wakefield 2013 varietals are terrific wines and great value. The Pinot Noir is a richer wine than previous vintages, yet with fine Pinot Noir character (plum, red currant, cherry), very good balance, and a very long finish, with rich fruitiness and overtones of cooked meat, pepper, mint, and oak. Aged in French oak barrels.
