Enormously flavoursome with rich fruit characters of black cherry, plum and ripe berries. American oak adds nuances of vanilla, cigar box, coffee and toast.Download Full Winemaker Note
The wine is developing brick red with a deep crimson heart, Its purple hues will continue to fade into soft red brick red as it ages.
The wine has complex aromas of plum fruit, violets and spice with creamy vanillin from maturation in American oak.
This is a elegant full wine with rich texture. Fruit flavours of purple berries are complimented by subtle spice and faint cedar which bring pleasurable warmth to the palate. The finish is long and persistent.
Delicious upon release and peaking during 2010, 2011 but will reward careful cellaring until 2014, possibly longer.

Syrah du Monde Hat-Trick Success for Wakefield St Andrews Shiraz
The 2004 St Andrews Shiraz is mouth-filling, rich in texture and abundant in red berry flavours complemented by subtle spice and faint cedar. This wine is rich in flavour, texture and complexity and has a long, luxurious finish. Drinking superbly now, this wine will also reward careful cellaring for up to ten years.

Shiraz and blends
Aged qualities showing: a very good wine. A stern, serious spicy edge with, tightness. Lovely ripe, dense fruit with lots of good Clare characters showing through. Dried herb aromas with good fruit on the middle palate.

World's greatest shiraz challenge
Developed, oaky style with quite a meaty nose and soft, creamy fruit palate.
Destination Food, December 2010
Regarded as a benchmark wine from the Clare Valley, one of AustraliaÆs premier wine regions. It represents the very best from the WakefieldÆ family estate and continues the St Andrews tradition of fine Australian wines since 1892. The wine has a brick red colour with a deep crimson heart, and marries enticing and complex aromas of plum fruits, violets, spice and creamy vanillin from maturation in American oak.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, December 2010
2004 Wakefield St Andrews Shiraz has a medium-deep garnet color and evolving nose of smoked meat and tobacco, leather and Indian spices over dried mulberries and plums. Medium to full bodied, it has just enough spicy flavor to flesh the medium-firm, chewy tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing long. Mature now, it should keep another 3-5 years+.

Treasure Trove - Top five Australian Shiraz
At seven years of age this intense, complex wine is just starting to hit its straps. A lovely mellow wine that's deliciously drinkable now.
