St. Andrews
St. Andrews
Shiraz 1996
| Region: | Taylors Winery |
Enormously flavoursome with rich fruit characters of black cherry, plum and ripe berries. American oak adds nuances of vanilla, cigar box, coffee and toast.
Wine Colour
Intense black cherry.
Wine Bouquet
Fennel, vanilla, coffee bean. Intense berry lift with underlying biscuity oak.
Wine Palate
Fleshy, supple, velvety shiraz throughout the palate. Oak tannins act in a supporting role to enhance the fruit flavours giving depth and structure to the wine. The palate is tight with firm astringency.
Suggested Food Matching
Rich meats or with a plate of fine cheeses.
Critics Notes
“Sweet fruit lift and strong, old oak. Great depth of soft, rich flavour. Slightly buttery. Excellent length.” 3½ STARS Winestate Magazine (July/August 1999)
Cellaring Notes
Very enjoyable now, but with patience and care will improve for 5 to 10 years.
