An unusual fusion of Clare Valley & Margaret River resulting in an intensely flavoured, complex yet elegant wine with distinct citrus, white peach & nectarine characters along with a subtle flinty note.Download Full Winemaker Note
On release the wine is a very pale straw colour with a youthful green hue.
The wine has intense lifted aromas of melon and white peach with underlying subtle savoury notes from the French oak.
The palate delivers well-balanced and evenly distributed fruit flavours of classic melon and peach along with underlying creamy notes from the lees stirring. Texturally, the wine has a retrained, tight structure overall and yet still displays a measure of subtle creaminess to the mid palate and rewards with well integrated oak. The Clare Valley parcel delivers mid palate fleshiness whilst the Margaret River component contributes the restraint and elegance that are typical of this region. Overall, the wine has a great palate line with length which lingers long after the wine is consumed.

Evocative nose of ripe yellow stone fruit, waxy lees, hessian sacks and refreshing zesty grapefruit skin. An exquisite chardonnay made for cultured drinking. Savoury, briny hints (thanks to the Margaret River seaside spray) and a lovely balance of blanched nuts, plenty of tangy citrus & vanilla-esque sweetness. Showing restraint for the here and now; Long and linear drive and focus. One glass is not enough.
Graeme Phillips, Hobart Mercury, May 2015
Nectarine and hints of orange marmalade on the nose becoming distinctly cooked quince - like in the mouth in a forward and unrelieved, fruit-sweet style that, for me, is a little too overwhelming. But some people will love it.

An interesting approach in that it captures the strengths of a particular variety from two different areas to create a complete wine. This chardonnay is a combination of Clare Valley and Margaret River fruit. The aromatics of the Clare component seem most evident while the driving intensity of Margaret river really carries the palate to its long complete finish. Beautifully crafted wine.

The Plonk Test
With natural acidity balanced with intense flavours of citrus, nectarine and peach, this subtly French oaked chardy is cheeky enough to have you coming back for more. This enjoyable drop delivers well balanced fruit flavours with underlying creamy notes for a smooth delivery. Its makers assert its Clare Valley fruit (55 per cent) delivers midpalate fleshiness while the Margaret River component (45 per cent) contributes the restraint and elegance that are typical of the region.

Clare Valley and surrounding regions
Classy peachy/fig-like bouquet and a very oaky palate offering a big mouthful of flavour. Will improve further with cellaring.

Australia's Wakefield Estate delivers a diverse collection of wines
As is the process with the Jarman line of wines, the fruit comes from two distinct growing regions: Clare Valley (55 percent) and Margaret River (45 percent). Fermentation and aging took place in tight-grained French oak. Yellow fruit aromas are joined by bits of linseed oil and a hint of toast on a slightly austere nose. Classic apple and pear characteristics light up the palate, which is stuffed with tons of fresh, eager fruit flavors. The notably long finish shows off continued orchard fruits as well as bits of pineapple and papaya. The oak in play here adds nice complexity without being obtrusive. This is an extremely complex Chardonnay for the money.

2014 Wakefield Jaraman Chardonnay
This wine shows a brilliant straw color in the glass. Light whiffs of vanilla and butter lead to ripe flavors of summer melon and white peach. On the palate, it is creamy and medium-bodied, with a good underlying acidity. Nearly half of the grapes were sourced from the Margaret River wine region, famous for producing the most complex and highest rated Chardonnays in all of Australia.

Australia Rediscovers its Mojo
Light yellow-gold. Smoke-accented peach and fig aromas are lifted by ginger and lemon pith. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering ripe pit and citrus fruit flavors with a subtle touch of fennel. Finishes smooth and vaguely sweet, with a note of lemon curd.

Wine Reviews: Wakefield
Medium gold color. Bold aromatics of apricot and baked yellow apples, topped with chopped nuts, honey, white tea and a hint of chalk. Creamy texture on the palate, but balanced out a bit by moderate acidity. Fresh apricot and yellow apple fruit mix with notes of cinnamon, clove and nougat, but the French oak elements are woven in well. Some white flower and chalk flavors as well. Fun, juicy, toasty stuff but the freshness keeps this interesting. 55% of the fruit comes from Clare Valley while 45% comes from Margaret River.
