At release, the wine has a dark red colour to the centre with a vibrant purple hue to the edges.
The wine has lifted aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and subtle herbal and mint characters along with complex spice and cigar box from the oak.
This is a rich full-bodied wine that will benefit from time in the bottle. It is a well-balanced wine across the palate with fine, elegant tannins – the hallmark of great Cabernet. Ripe flavours of blackcurrant and cassis delight with subtle savoury French oak characters of cedar and spice. The finish is long and persistent.
Will reward careful cellaring in ideal conditions to 2018, possibly beyond.

Mix of Clare and Coonawarra Cabernets. The latter evident with a hint of Eucalypt. Leafy Cabernet notes, clean plate with cherry cola and cassis. Grainy tannin, faint hint of cedar and bay. Moderate length, carrying some flavour through.

This is on the upper end of our usual budget, so you have to ask, is it worth all that money? Answer? Yes, Good Lord, yes. This is a very good red - deep, complex, rich - and it's gone straight into our top 10 cab savs of all time. A combo of fruit from the Clare Valley and Coonawarra regions makes up this one, with luscious deep red fruit on the palate and a finish that makes you want more. It was a sad moment when the bottle was empty. Love to team this with venison and see how it goes. Very well, we imagine.

Wine of the Week
A Clare-Coonawarra blend, this young cabernet sauvignon is a traditional South Australian type. Minty aromas mix with dark fruit and briary notes on the nose, with savoury cabernet earthiness underneath. It is medium-bodied with good length and nicely integrated fine tannins.

On the nose, juicy blueberry and blackberry mix with aromas of milk chocolate, mint and eucalyptus. On the palate, the blue and black fruit has a nice combination of freshness and sweetness. Flavors of coconut shavings and mint pervade the fruit, and it all works together. Impressive concentration, full of ripe fruit, undeniably delicious. Nothing to be ashamed of here, this is serious Aussie Cab.

Sourced mostly from the Clare Valley, but with around a third of the fruit from Coonawarra, this is another fine South Australian red from the 2010 vintage, with real floral, violet and kirsch¡like lift to the abundant cassis and minty aromas. On the palate there's crowd¡ pleasing dark chocolate and loads of sweet blackcurrant fruit, but it has grip and a bit of substance, the earthy, dusty tannins and keen cherry acidity balancing.
